Our Process

Renovating doesn’t have to be frustrating. Our job is to make it a fun and enjoyable process. We have learned that by taking on the responsibility of the design, the scope of development, and the construction, that greater customer satisfaction can be achieved.
As a general contractor serving Murfreesboro, TN and surrounding areas, we employ a design/build process for our projects which
ensures single source accountability for all phases of the project. This approach creates a simplified process for our clients...only one
contractor to contact when questions or problems arise. One entity is accountable for everything –including how the end result looks, how much it costs and the timeline of completion. When the same group that designs the project also completes the project, there tends to be much more attention given to pricing, scheduling, and interpreting the client's vision for the project.
In addition to designing for our clients, our team manages the projects. We guide clients from the very first meeting all the way to the final item on the punch list. Throughout the process we strive to meet your needs and requirements. Attention to detail and superior craftsmanship are executed in each project. Clients are guided throughout the project so that the end result fulfills their vision and concept. Our goal is to give you exactly what you've envisioned for your project...on time...and on budget.
Initial Meetings
During our first meeting we’ll spend some time getting to know each other to ensure we are a good fit. We ask that all decision makers attend this initial session so we can go over any questions or concerns anyone may have. We will get some ideas on your specific needs and desires for your project.
Our initial meeting is the first step to developing the relationship of trust necessary to ensure your enjoyment of the remodeling process – trust in the quality of the craftsmanship, trust in the dependability of our team, and trust that you and your property will be treated as if it was our own.
Ask questions - lots of them. Talk about your ideas, hopes, concerns, and plans for your project. Magazine photos, Pinterest, and Houzz
are great ways to show us your wish list items for your space. An added benefit of creating a Pinterest board for your project is that it can also serve as a record of final products, colors, materials, appliance, and furnishings used on your project. Also feel free to ask about our experience, our vision, and our way of working.

During this initial meeting at your home or project location, we will:

  • Discuss with you your vision and tentative budget. Your “budget” is very important because this will help us put together a proposal based upon your budget.

  • Take measurements and photographs

  • Begin the process of developing a scope of work

  • Make our recommendations, thoughts and/or ideas

We will begin the brainstorming process at this time, but may set up additional meetings in order to show you materials, pick your brain, and discuss ideas to help you discover what you really want and assist us in preparing your proposal.
The Estimating/Contract Process
Depending on the size of the project, it will take one to two weeks to prepare a detailed proposal. For large remodels, we may have several meetings before determining the final pricing and scope of work for the proposal.
Once the final scope of work has been determined, we will then begin the process of preparing a detailed proposal which will include fixed project costs. This fixed project cost includes all labor and materials for the scope of work outlined in the proposal. A materials allowance for all finish materials such as light fixtures, plumbing fixtures, tile, etc. is included so that our clients will have a more accurate picture of true project cost with no big surprises when the final bill is submitted. Of course, changes are typically part of the process, but those changes will be discussed with the client before proceeding.
If this proposal is agreed upon and signed or approved via email, it will become a Construction Agreement and we will proceed to the next step in our process...selection of materials.
Selection Phase/Pre-construction
At this stage, we will submit a payment schedule which includes an initial deposit. Once the initial deposit is received, we will then begin the process of making final selections for products such as flooring, cabinetry, faucets, countertops, and lighting and plumbing fixtures. This is when it starts to get really fun! The project is no longer just ideas on paper or in pictures, but comes to life when the flooring, tile, faucets, lights and more begin arriving on the job site.
When possible, sample products will be brought to the project location in order to make final selections. In other cases we will visit showrooms and warehouses to select materials. This is also the time for you to purchase any “owner supplied” items such as; furniture, appliances, etc. Once final selections are made, we will begin ordering/purchasing products and scheduling all phases of the project.
We will hold a pre-project meeting so that we can review the timeline process and plan accordingly to minimize disruptions to your routine. We’ll also discuss what steps we can take to lessen the impact of construction on your daily life. At this time, we will also provide you with a project schedule. The schedule will include the dates, times and who is coming in when. This eliminates a lot of questions as to what is happening when. We will also keep you updated through emails or telephone calls.
Other items which may be discussed at this meeting, if necessary, include:
  • Preparing your house.

  • Location of the material staging area

  • Debris control

  • Dust control

  • Home security

  • Payment schedules

  • and more...
